Feministas Unidas Professional Meetings

Feministas Unidas is an allied organization of the Modern Language Association (MLA) and the Latin American Studies Association (LASA), coordinating panels, roundtables, and other events. It also collaborates in the annual meetings of the Northeast Modern Language Association (NeMLA). In addition, Feministas Unidas organizes book launches, reading clubs, and gatherings to support the work of its community. You can access these presentations on our YouTube channel:  FeministasUnidasYoutubeChannel

Feministas Unidas has a guaranteed session at each of the annual MLA and LASA conferences. Anyone may submit a proposal to participate; however, please note that if your proposal is accepted, in addition to paying the registration fees for MLA or LASA, you must also be a member of Feministas Unidas for both the year the proposal is submitted and the year the conference takes place.

For non-guaranteed sessions at either conference, accepted participants must also pay the registration fees for the respective organization and maintain Feministas Unidas membership for that year.

Regarding the annual NeMLA convention, Feministas Unidas is guaranteed at least one session. For this conference—as with the MLA and LASA—the organizer is required to have an active Feministas Unidas membership. For all other participants, membership is recommended but not mandatory.

Feminisms in Dialogue: Genealogies, Praxis, and Materialities.

Abstract: This panel invites scholars to explore the rich and multifaceted history of feminism and its diverse historical expressions in Latin America. We seek papers that examine feminist initiatives in their many forms, from proto-feminist voices in the press of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries to contemporary movements such as #NiUnaMenos. We encourage analyses that address continuities, ruptures, and transformations in women's strategies, demands, and political subjectivities. Papers related to archival and newspaper research are also welcome.

Submission of Proposals (accepted in Spanish, English, and French) is exclusively through this Google Form

Submission Deadline: August 20, 2025.
